Grinding Gears:
Occasionally, excessive play occurs on the main gear handle shaft, leading to gear grinding. Depending on the reel, zero to three shims may be required to resolve this issue. These shims are placed on the short end of the main gear, allowing the side plate to press the gears more tightly together.
